Here is the reason why I wished my parents had given me another name…
You’ve got to love my name. Why? Because it’s ALWAYS mispelled. Aww, sucks, right? Ever since my elementary days my name always ends up spelled the wrong way. I used to throw away invitations because they never got my name right. What’s so hard with my name? My God, on recognition day invitations, my name always ends up mispelled. Imagine, they spelled Alyssa as Allysa, Allyssa or Alysa and what’s the deal with Bernice being spelled as Bernie?
And then, there’s this thing about my nickname. Like my name, my nickname always end up mispelled. People spell it as Abby, Abie or Abbie. People just don’t get that it’s spelled as Abbi.
And then there’s this thing with the pronounciation of my name. I’m a bit OC when it comes to my name so bear with me here. I had several teachers who pronounced Alyssa like Ah-lie-sah but it’s supposed to be Ah-lee-sah. And there’s this one teacher during my elementary days who told me that I have no right to correct her. I mean, what’s the hell was that? Of course I have the right to correct her! She pronounced my name wrong, for crying out loud! That’s why ever since I was in High School, I made my teachers call me Abbi. So that I won’t have to correct them. And just so there would be no repeats of that you-have-no-right-to-correct-me episode.
*Sigh* you’ve got to love my name…
Oh .. Yeah.. Allysa… Ah. Spelling mistake…:P
