ON DORMITORY APPLICATION AND THE OFFICE OF STUDENT HOUSING

I’M REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OFFICE OF STUDENT HOUSING!

First, The list of disapprove applicants are now posted at the 2nd Floor of the Vinsons Hall. And was surprised to find my name there. My violation, you might ask?

1) Went to the rooftop (There is clearly no rule (written or spoken) stating that no one is allowed there. And, if I may add in my defense, it is really open and easily accessible and there are no signs, memo or announcement (formal or otherwise) prohibiting it.)

2) Passed Form 5 late. (While I did pass a copy of my Form 5 for the second semester around February, this is only because I *THEY* lost my copy in the first place and asked for a new copy. Now, is that *my* fault? Or is it my fault that when I first submitted my copy, no one was at the office and I was instructed by the guard to leave it at the table? It that *MY* fault?)

The aforementioned violations counts DOES NOT EVEN EXIST!

Second, there are names there that shouldn’t be. The *REAL* Income Tax Return of those people doesn’t deserve a slot in a dormitory and there are some of them who are even ACADEMICALLY DELINQUENT! I can accept not being accepted into a dormitory but only on fair grounds. I submitted my parents real Income Tax Return (ITR) Certificate and declared my real place of origin even to my disadvantage. I’m playing on fair grounds and the Office of Student Housing would do well to play on the same grounds. The process is a big inconvenience for us but could’ve been a good and fair one if the implementation is good and fair.

I suggest a re-checking of those who were already admitted. I know a lot more people who deserve those slots. People from farther provinces, with lower ITRs and with better academic standings (i.e. university / college scholars and suma / magna cum laude standing). This selection process is getting dirtier by the day. (And I thought I’ve seen the worst at COMELEC!) PLEASE BE FAIR! And, everyone, PLEASE PLAY FAIR!
